Chicago hotel rates fluctuate significantly based on conventions, festivals, and events. Queen Elizabeth II stayed here. Princess Diana. Frank Sinatra. Winston Churchill. The guest list reads like a century of history. The rooms are comfortable, the staff is warm and attentive in a way that newer boutique hotels rarely match, and there’s a reason this place has been welcoming guests for over 100 years.
Is it modern? No. Does it have an Instagram rooftop bar? No. Is it the most comfortable, best-located, most genuinely hospitable hotel in Chicago? In our experience, yes.
The Gold Coast — Best Overall Location
The Gold Coast is Chicago’s most prestigious residential neighborhood — historic mansions, luxury high-rises, and the best shopping and dining corridor in the city running right through it. Michigan Avenue’s Magnificent Mile is your front door. Lake Shore Drive and the lakefront path are a block east.
You can walk to Millennium Park, the Art Institute, Navy Pier, and the lakefront. You can shop on the Mag Mile without getting in a car. You can have dinner on the Riverwalk and walk home.
