Navy Pier is one of Chicago’s most-visited attractions, and parking here follows a predictable pattern — on-site is the most convenient but most expensive, and there’s a legitimate off-site alternative that costs a fraction of the price if you’re willing to walk about 20 minutes or hop the free Navy Pier Flyover connector.
Park at Millennium Lakeside Garage (5 S. Columbus Drive), keep your entry ticket, and present it at the Navy Pier Guest Services desk near the west main entrance. Validated rate: $14 for 12 hours — dramatically cheaper than either on-site garage. Same trick works at four other partner garages listed further down.
On-Site Garages: East and West
Navy Pier operates two on-site self-park garages that together hold about 1,500 vehicles. They’re not identical, and which one you want depends on your vehicle and your destination on the pier.
West Garage is the one available for online advance reservations. Height clearance is 6’3″, so if you’re driving anything oversized this isn’t your garage. It’s the more commonly used of the two for general pier visits.
East Garage has a higher clearance at 7’9″, making it the required option for trucks, vans, and any oversized vehicle. It’s also the more convenient choice if you’re headed to Chicago Shakespeare Theater, an event in the Festival Halls, the Grand Ballroom, or the Miller Lite Beer Garden — it sits closer to those venues than the West Garage does.
Self-park rates at both garages run from around $16 for the first hour up to a daily maximum near $50. Expect the higher end of that range on weekends and during peak season. You have 30 minutes to exit after payment, and a lost ticket means you pay the daily maximum — so don’t lose the ticket.
Off-Site Validated Parking — The Better Value
Navy Pier partners with five off-site garages that offer validated parking at a flat discounted rate once you present your ticket at Guest Services. This is the move if saving money matters more than walking distance.

All five validate at Navy Pier Guest Services for the $14/12-hour rate. Don’t prepay online through third-party apps if you’re planning to use validation — get the drive-up rate and validate in person, since prepaid rates through some apps don’t always qualify for the discount.
Street Parking Near Navy Pier
Skip it as a plan. There’s no free parking near Navy Pier, and metered street parking in Streeterville — the neighborhood immediately around the pier — runs about $4.75 an hour, which adds up fast for anything beyond a quick stop. Combined with Chicago’s strict enforcement rules and low time limits in this area, a garage is almost always the better call.
Note: The West Garage is the only one that accepts online advance reservations. If you book ahead through a third-party parking app, confirm it’s routing you to the West Garage specifically — the East Garage doesn’t support the same online booking flow.
Restaurant and Hotel Valet Option
If you’re eating at Harry Caray’s Tavern, Lirica, or Offshore, or staying at Sable Hotel, spending $25 or more at any of those qualifies you for valet drop-off at Entrance 2. Worth knowing if you’re already planning to eat on the pier — it can eliminate the parking question entirely.
Event Days
Navy Pier hosts fireworks displays, festivals, and seasonal events that push both on-site and validated parking to capacity faster than a normal day. If your visit coincides with a fireworks night or a major pier event, arrive early or book the West Garage online in advance rather than counting on a walk-up spot.
Hotels in Streeterville and River North put you within easy walking distance of the pier — no parking needed at all if you’re staying close.
