Millennium Park pulls enormous crowds — it’s the second most-visited attraction in Chicago after Navy Pier. Millennium Park Garage — The Closest Option

This is the obvious first choice and for good reason. The Millennium Park Garage sits directly underneath the park at 5 S. Columbus Drive, with 2,126 spaces across a massive underground facility. It connects to the park above and to Chicago’s underground Pedway system, which means you can walk to multiple downtown destinations without going back outside. On cold or rainy days that’s worth something.

The garage shares a vehicle entrance with the Millennium Lakeside Garage — both facilities use the same entrance ramps on Columbus Drive. Rates typically run $17–$38 depending on day and duration. Book ahead on weekends and any time there’s an event at the Pritzker Pavilion or nearby venues. Walk-up rates on busy days can run higher than what you’d pay booking in advance through SpotHero.

Millennium Lakeside Garage — Same Entrance, More Options

The Lakeside Garage shares the same Columbus Drive entrance as the Millennium Park Garage and is operated by Millennium Garages, the same company. When the Park Garage shows full online, check the Lakeside — they’re effectively one parking complex with two designations. Between the two facilities there are well over 3,000 spaces, which means the complex almost never truly runs out of room, though rates can still climb on peak days.

Grant Park North Garage — Michigan Avenue Side

Located at 25 N. Michigan Avenue, Grant Park North is the go-to if you’re coming in from the north on Lake Shore Drive or approaching from Michigan Avenue. It puts you at the edge of Millennium Park near the Chicago Cultural Center and the Randolph Street entrance to the park. Slightly farther from the Bean than the Columbus Drive garages but a better approach if you’re coming from that direction. City-operated, competitive rates.

Grant Park South Garage — Art Institute Access

At 325 S. Michigan Avenue, Grant Park South is the better choice if the Art Institute of Chicago is your primary destination alongside Millennium Park. The walk to the Bean is longer — about 10–12 minutes — but if you’re spending time at both the museum and the park, this garage splits the distance nicely. Also useful if the northern garages are filling up and you have flexibility on where to walk from.

Millennium Park hosts major events throughout the year that push parking demand significantly higher than a typical weekend. If your visit overlaps with any of these, book your spot as early as possible:

Lollapalooza (late July/early August) is the most extreme case. The festival fills Grant Park and the surrounding blocks, and all nearby garages fill by mid-morning on festival days. Chicago Jazz Festival, Taste of Chicago, and the Grant Park Music Festival all bring significant crowds to the park and immediate area. So does Christkindlmarket in late November and December, when the garages near the park handle overflow from the entire Michigan Avenue corridor.

Chicago Bears games at Soldier Field — just south of Millennium Park — pull additional cars into the same garage complex, particularly on Sunday afternoons. If you’re visiting the park on a Bears game day, plan accordingly or take the L.

Coming by CTA Instead

The L is genuinely the easiest way to reach Millennium Park if you’re staying anywhere near a Red, Brown, Green, Orange, or Purple Line station. From the elevated lines, exit at Washington/Wabash and walk east. From the subway, the Lake Street Red Line stop or Washington Blue Line stop both put you within a 5–8 minute walk of the park entrance.

Metra riders can use the Millennium Station at Michigan Avenue and Randolph Street, which sits directly below the park. If you’re coming from the suburbs for the day, Metra + walking is often faster and cheaper than driving and parking.

Street Parking Near Millennium Park

Honest answer: don’t count on it. Free street parking near Millennium Park is extremely limited, subject to 2-hour time restrictions in most areas, and gone well before noon on any busy weekend. The blocks immediately surrounding the park — Michigan Avenue, Columbus Drive, Randolph, Monroe — are either metered with low time limits or no-parking zones. If you get lucky you get lucky, but it’s not a strategy worth building your day around.
